Pulwama, Nov 28 (KNO): Voters in southern districts of Kashmir Monday said that they are voting only to see their local issues addressed on time and to see their localities development on all fronts. Southern districts of Valley saw less voting but those who voted straightaway said that their vote is for development not anything else. “Big issues like restoration of article 370 and 35 A are for bigger platforms like the assembly or the Parliament. Today, my vote is to get our basic issues like road connectivity, water and electricity solved,” Ali Mohammad, a 72-year old voter from Keller, Shopian, told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Javaid Ahmed, a voter from Pulwama said that he voted for redressal of their basic issues as they know DDCs, panchs and sarpanchs have no domain of framing laws. “Our vote is to use this small platform to address the developmental issues of the people at the local level,” Ahmed said. Meanwhile, several first-time voters who turned up to cast their votes at several polling stations in south Kashmir told KNO that they were voting for the development and there is no politics behind their voting. Imtiaz Ahmad (name changed), a voter from Keller area of Shopian district said that it is not the domain of DDC candidates to restore Article 370 and they were just casting their vote for development. Safeena Jan, a voter from the upper belt of Pahalgam said that they need basic facilities and she cast her vote just for the development of their area which has been neglected for the last 70 years. “We have seen only killing, firing and other things since we opened our eyes and we are fed up of everything,” said a Danish Ahmad, a voter from DH Pora Kulgam, adding that “my vote was for peace, stability and development of our area for what we have been begging since decades.”—(KNO)
